Contest Brief

LATE ENTRIES: Just do the main room and top view floor plan, I will let you know if you should do the rest to be considered for winning.

Tavern operator needing interior design floor plan and 2D/3D illustrations/drawings/rendering.

A floor plan is attached. UPDATE: The floor plan is a little unclear, for our purposes the the design doesn't need to be 100% true to scale as adjustments can be made during build. We are looking for interior design creativity and functionality of the space. Ceiling height is 3050.

The Tavern will be named after a former local police officer and it was a bank when originally built in 1935. We would like that incorporated subtly as the main theme.
UPDATE: Rustic design, Old West meets Victorian era, some modern elements.

The dining area will be the main area, this area requires a mixed type of seating, a stage for live music and a bar equipped with 6 - 8 beer taps. There are 3 bi fold windows on the front face of the building.

The waiters area will be changed into a secondary seating area in line with the main theme.

The preparation area will be turned into a third seating area with a Thai theme. UPDATE: This was a Thai restaurant for 30 years, we use the decor left behind in this space as a tribute.

The rear door leads to a courtyard, the laundry will become a cool room and the 2 cool rooms labelled in the floor plan will be removed to allow for a spacious outdoor courtyard/beer garden in line with the main theme.

Highlight the walls where you think a mural should be painted, we will commission a local artist for these murals.

UPDATE: Low budget build, use low cost material where possible.
UPDATE: The exterior walls are brick and can be exposed.
UPDATE: Kitchen design is not required.

    Hi, I'm glad to take part on this project and thank you for inviting me to be a part of it. Before i begin to work on your design, i would like to know a few things. How many clients do you expect daily? How much effort would you like to put in the renovation of the area without considering the budget( i understand the concept of low budget, but in order to make something out of it you will need to make some compromises)? You want something western,victorian and thai. What would you like to be the predominant theme? Do you want a blend of themes or particular areas were each can stand out by itself?

      Hi Tibor, we are expecting about 150-200 customers to come through the door on our busiest nights. By low budget I mean avoid using too much material like stone, this can drive up cost dramatically. We are happy to spend money on material that add value to the overall atmosphere. The theme is a blended theme of old west/victorian. The Thai theme is to be limited to one room as a tribute to previous business owners. Thanks! I look forward to seeing your work.
