Pruning : Long Term Hazard

Pruning is the removal of plant parts, typically shoots, branches, fronds and flowers to improve health, control growth or influence fruiting, flowering or appearance. Roots can also be pruned and removed if they circle close to or are resting against the trunk. Pruning severity and shoot positioning produced a significant interaction for yield/node, indicating the tremendous increase in node productivity obtained by shoot-positioning vines . This response was due to reduced shading of nodes on vigorous vines. The 3-way interaction between shoot-positioning, training system, and pruning severity also had a significant effect on the percentage of soluble solids and absorbing capacity of a plant. Its effect on yield of fruits are also subsequently low . Pruning also causes reduction in leaf potassium concentration , and also slows down the process of photosynthesis . Hence it is a threat to human mankind .
