  Hey dranerswag, Kava is a plant thats native to the South Pacific. The plant is grown for around 3-5 years after which the rootstock is pounded into a powder, strained into a large bowl and generally drunk in a communal setting. The feeling you get from drinking is that of relaxation. Unlike alcohol, it does not interfere with mental clarity. In the past, it was generally reserved only for chiefs or people of high status but now it can be drunk by anyone. It is considered Fiji's national drink. Kava is light brown colour when pounded.
