Contest Brief

Our research study is aiming to minimize bone and muscle loss that happens during caloric restriction (i.e. traditional dietary weight loss) by assigning older adults to a bone loading/strength training intervention and/or to a weekly bisphosphonate medication (i.e. take an oral pill). The acronym we are using for the study is BEACON, which stands for "The Bone, Exercise, Alendronate, and Caloric RestrictiON Trial", so the word BEACON will need to be the focus of the logo.

We are recruiting approximately 300 adults, ages 60 and older, and we need a study logo for swag for the participants and study staff (i.e. a vector and JPG file image that can be used for screen printing/embroidery to go on tote bags, t-shirts, binders, etc. ). This study logo will also be on recruitment materials (i.e. brochures, postcards), so feel free to make it something that would catch someone's eye in a recruitment ad and that when someone sees it, they definitely know it's our study! Image ideas could be something to do with strength training equipment, long bones, muscles, a pill, or maybe a lighthouse/radio tower (to reflect the word "BEACON").

The research group is predominantly based out of Wake Forest University and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center, and the color palettes of both universities can be found here:

Although we're not wed to it, it might be nice to incorporate the university colors into the logo, when possible. That said, we will defer to you all in terms of what "looks good" from a color perspective. Thank you!
