## BIO
I am a professional Visual Basic programmer who excels when challenged with new and exciting tasks. Having joined First Call Computer Solutions as a programmer, I also expanded to network implementation and support. One of my stronger points is my diverse background, with experience in business, accounting, networking and programming.
**Professional Experience**
* * *
| **Senior Applications Engineer** | **First Call Computer Solutions** | **May 1999 to July 2002** |
| **Missoula, Montana** |
In this team environment, I was a main contributor to the operations. My duties included software development (70%), software training (5%), network implementation and support (20%), computer installation and repair (5%).
| **Payroll Application** |
| | Working with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe’s Payroll Department, I designed and implemented the first two stages of this project. It was created to track payroll hours and track leave. The Application peforms approvals and exports payroll batch information to the Blackbaud Accounting System. This was my first .Net application; .Net Remoting, Crystal Reports, Win Forms and [login to view URL] (datasets) were used. |
| **Self-Insurance Program** |
| | I designed, built and deployed this Self-Insurance program that tracked Blue Cross and Blue Shield deductibles against the businesses portion of the deductible. The individual’s medical, dental and vision claims were tracked by the system. Generally, a business would self-insure a portion of the deductible. (i.e. Business pays the last $500 of a $1000 BC/BS deductible and they would pay it at a given rate of 80%). This program also did reporting as well as writing checks. |
| **Grant Tracking Software** |
| | Working with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe’s Office of Budget and Administration I designed and implemented all three stages of this project. This software tracks grants as they come in and compares them to an imported budget and actual expenditures from Blackbaud Accounting System. It is also used to create weekly and monthly transfer requests for both Indirect Costs and Federal money transfer requests to the many different funding agencies based on expenditures and budgets. |
| **Mill Production Program** |
| | In conjunction with the production manager and data entry personnel I helped design and build this application which tracked board feet in and out of each milling-machine thus tracking the waste of each machine. I also created several monthly summary and daily detailed reports to show the totals of production, waste and machine down-times. |
| **Construction Estimating** |
| | This excavation estimating program was written in Excel so that it could be customized and modified easily by the estimator. It had the ability to import the customer list from QuickBooks and used templates to maintain the list of items. Based on the type of items in the estimate it would print off worksheets for the estimator as well as a detailed and summarized estimates. |
| **FIDS/2000+ (Flight Information Display System)** |
| | I modified and upgraded this flight display software for Travel Marketing ([login to view URL]). This program displays arrivals and departures for 3 of Montana’s airports (Bozeman, Kalispell and Missoula) both inside the airport an on the Internet. It also has a management portion which tracks and reports the reasons for late or delayed flights. This program was originally written in FoxPro 6.0 and the management portion that I did as an add-on was written in Visual Basic 6.0. |
| **Software Training** |
| | My software teaching experience has been with businesses ranging from individuals to groups of thirty plus professionals and from beginning to advanced users. I have taught hundreds hours, mostly in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows 98. |
| **Network Implementation and Support** |
| | I was also a part of the networking and technical support team. When a customer needed technical support, or network implementation, or upgrading I might be called upon to be a member of that team. Bonner School was my main client and I supported a 100 node network with 3 servers, I was sub-contracted part-time as there Technology Coordinator. |
