hi, I am looking to design a network for two companies. the project is following -

Overview: You are designing a network for a large start up company that will be commencing operations on Jan 2, 2019. There currently is no network and no equipment. You will be starting from the ground up. There are two locations. One in Toronto and one in Barrie. Both locations have the same number of users in the departments as listed below.

Total Users at each location 2000

Sales users 500

Admin users 200

Finance users 200

Marketing users 200

R&D users 200

Service users 200

Customer Service users 400

IT Department users 100

The number of users in each department at each location will double in the first year.

The WAN connectivity at each location needs to be determined by you…..but both Rogers and Bell have all services they provide available at each location. Gig connectivity to Internet and Gig connectivity between locations will be required. Each department at each location needs to be able to communicate with at least its counterpart at the other location and maybe other departments as well.

They will be using Cisco VOIP phones and installing CUCM. Will your design be redundant?

Each Department will have a least one server. At each location there is a server room and all wiring terminates in this room. Assume this room is built correctly with racks, raised floor, cooling etc.

Wireless connectivity is not required nor allowed.

The budget for this project is unlimited….so please give me a design that includes redundancy, scalability etc.

Instructions: Complete the following.

WAN Document. 25 marks. Create a one page document describing your WAN design including Internet connectivity and connectivity between locations. The company has 2 /24 subnets of public IP addressing assigned by ARIN. [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] How will you route those subnets? Your design should include redundancy. It is just an overview document and does not need to be overly detailed but does need to include the basics. Ask yourself…..is what I put on the page worth 25 marks.

Vlan/IP Addressing/Internal Routing. 25 marks. Create a one page document describing your IP address and vlan design and any internal routing. Include a chart to show the Vlan/IP Subnet assignments you will be using for each department. Is what you submit worth 25 marks???

VOIP and Data. 25 marks. Create a document describing your setup for the VOIP network. It should be fault tolerant. Remember there are two locations. Don’t forget to talk about all 3 layers as Voice and Data traverse all 3 layers.

Network Diagram. 25 marks. Create a basic network diagram showing your design. It should fit on one page. You could use Visio or a free program from the Internet….or hand draw it neatly, scan and submit. Include the vlans and subnets.

You may take some creative leeway with the information but do not over complicate things.

If you refer back to the correct sections of the book you should find the information you need. Remember you are building for redundancy. ISP redundancy, Server redundancy, etc.
