Write some Software

We are looking to build a gamification module on an existing python software solution. Wazimap ECD runs on the Wazimap platform, all the code (including the data) is available here: [login to view URL] The data is in the sql directory, the database structure is very simple. Much of the data comes from the 2011 Census which is also available from Stats SA. The problem Early childhood development (ECD) is becoming an increasingly essential priority area for government. Despite this, the actual planning and rollout of services is difficult. This is partly because the data available on child population, service coverage and gaps is difficult to access. In order to address this need for organised, regularly updated data, which is relevant and helpful to those planning and implementing services, Wazimap-ECD was created. Wazimap-ECD is a simple way of presenting geo-located data so that it is both easy to understand and useful to anyone who is working in ECD – politicians, NGOs, potential donors, and especially those responsible for planning. Data is stored on a digital platform and allows users to search and navigate it based on location as well as by data type. The solution The Wazimap was the first step in making this data easy to use. The next is a gamified user interface. This interface should be fun and interactive with leading questions that help to progressively develop the population-based planning skills of users. The big idea is for WaziECD to be a mechanism for improving the ability of the ECD sector in South Africa to use population-based data for the planning and provisioning of ECD services. What we need A proposal for the creation of a gamified interface for Wazimap-ECD that allows users to learn about how to navigate the data, enhances the population-based planning skills of users and enables them to use the data on the platform to make decisions in their ECD work.
