Wordpress / php issue, high memory usage

I need someone with relevant experience to look at a website for me, It is using an old template but due to changes that have been made I don't want to upgrade it. The problem is that the site is using far too much memory, i have many wordpress sites and most if not all run pretty well in shared hosting, I have moved this one to vps with 8 cores and 16gb ram, and it is still running out. see below ticker reply from vps host. This explains the aggressive memory usage, with almost 1GB required to load the page there's only ~7 PHP workers that could run before exhausting server memory. You'll want to try and identify what is using all the memory to reduce this as much as possible.
