Help me setup common login for multiple websites

I have multiple Wordpress installations on my domain and need to enable users to login/register via any of the installations and use the same credentials for logging in to any installation. The sessions/cookies also need to be shared so that once logged in to/out of any of the installations, users are automatically logged in or out from other installations too accordingly. A good example is that of Google, Youtube, and Blogger where login details and sessions are shared. I think Yahoo and Flickr also used the same thing. I know this can be done easily in Wordpress if all the installations are in the same database, but I would like to keep them separate. I'm not much into coding, so unable to try other options. Also I'd like this to work with any of my future CMS installations other than Wordpress. The system should work with normal registration and social logins as well. You just need to help me set this up and guide me on doing the same thing with any of my future installations. Again an easy job, so a small budget project.
