I can definitely help you with this as I've written previous product api importers for PrestaShop 1.7 so can have it ready within the 2 days. I would just need details of the api in terms of what the json looks like. Normally in these situations there are 3 main issues if it is adding the products in. 1. Does all the data from the api match the data in prestashop. I. E. Categories, brands, etc 2. Where do the product images come from? 3. Are they just base products or do they have combinations? If you are just updating product information for products that already exist I.e. Prices, stock then all you need is a matching unique identifier. The module I write for you will be a stand alone module which will give a url that can be called by cron and you can enter the api details within the settings.
