Build an Online Store

Overview Front end This is an online shop to sell merchandise products for multiple artists. There will be a finite selection of products onto which the artist’s designs can be added when ordered on line. Each artist has a dedicated page or pages, a shop within our shop, similar to the concession space in stores. So for simplicity sake let’s focus on an individual artist store first. There will be a list of products, i.e. tee-shirts, coffee mugs, sweat shirts, A4 print, A3 print, Poster print and Aluminium print. Each will have a set price for sale [universal to the whole site] which will include the artist’s design printed on it. So the artist will upload some designs [in the case of models this will be images of them] which they sell to members of their fan club and followers etc. [customer]. The customer then has a choice of which item from a dropdown they want the design on. In the case of clothing they will have the choice of size and colour. The selected items then go to a shopping cart, at which time the customer is invited to browse the other artists’ pages / shops on the site. When the customer is ready for checkout there should be a link to a payment system [PayPal?] The site should be very clean in design, no fancy sliders, easy to navigate. Back end 1. There should be an easy way to create a new ‘artist shop’ from a standard template. The artist will not be able to customise it. So, when a new artist comes on board they need to be able to click an add new shop tab, from a drop down select the type of artist, i.e. model, singer, photographer, digital artist etc. , insert name and open an account with their details [see later] . When this is completed they click submit and admin can then just check the application and click OK. The artist name will then appear in an alphabetical directory in the appropriate category, as well as in a search facility. 2. The artist needs to be able to upload their images in a standard format but must first confirm that they have the rights to use that image commercially, and indemnify the site in the event that they do not. 3. When an item is purchased an email needs to go to the artist and the buyer confirming the sale. The status is ‘pending’ and the order needs to go to the printer with the relevant details. When printer has confirmed completion and shipment then the order status changes to complete and the artist has their account credited with the commission [a set amount per item] 4. The artist needs to be able to access their account to view transactions. 5. There needs to be a simple ‘work in progress’ control. This could be a simple DB or a spreadsheet.
