This project is about serving real (satellite) images of city maps for navigation purposes over mobile phones. (similar to google earth).
Part A : Mobile Application
The essence of this service is that users can find any shop/business establishment in a city on their mobile device.
Each shop/business establishment would be identified by a unique ID.
The user types the current location ID and destination ID into the mobile device. (the current location ID would be any shop ID to which he is close to. The destination ID can be searched and found using the mobile application.)
Using these IDs the application would display the destination point and the current location point on the map. The application would also trace all possible routes to the destination point.
The user should be able to zoom, move and navigate the map on the mobile device. The map and related application would be served from a remote server.
Part B: Supporting Application.
A website containing the city map and the input fields necessary to enter information is needed. The website should also enable the user to graphically identify the location of his shop on the map.
The shop owner/ or owner of the business establishment would identify the point where his shop is located. He would also enter the unique ID code here. In addition he would enter information such as the name of the shop, the types of products it deals with, addresses etc.
The same application should also be served on a high-end PDA for use by our sales staff who can go around to collect information.
## Deliverables
I need a detailed project specification and feasibility report. The report should contain among other things a detailed outline of the resources needed such as (satellite maps, PDA phones for testing etc) and the methodology of developing the application.
## Platform
The platform envisaged is J2ME with CDC phones. Please also mention feasibility issues related to CDLC phones. In case you have any other ideas please include these in your feasibilty report.
