The idea of this project is the creation of a business process for borrowing books online using CAMUNDA PROCESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM and Java.
The project has to contain 5 tasks which will be described in more detail below but before the tasks, there should be a login form where a customer can login and begin borrowing books. Also, 15 user accounts have to be created in order to test the business process after it is finished.
The 5 tasks are:
Task 1: Sort list by category
After the initial login, the system will provide to the costumer a list of available books to borrow. By default the list will be sorted by categories.
Task 2: Look for books (Search)
After the presentation of lists of books the customer can search which book he wants to borrow. In case that book isn’t available in our store, the system will check with the supplier to find if he has it. If the book is not found, the system will notify the customer that we can’t provide him that book. If the book is found and confirmed by the system and the customer wants to borrow it, he needs to proceed to the next step.
Task 3: Borrowing
After the confirmation from the system for the availability of the book, the customer can choose, for how long they would like to borrow the book which he would have to pay different fees for different amount of time, and also if they want the shipment done with an extra fee by the company or they would like personally to come and take the book.
Task 4: Payment Confirmation
After deciding to borrow the book and giving the other information (about the shipment), the next step is the payment. The user has to enter his payment information (debit card number) in a form.
The information is processed and validated. After successful validation and payment confirmation from the suppliers an invoice is created and stored in the application database.
Task 5: Shipping
The final task is shipping. After the customer has made the payment, he should check/give the address where he wants his book to be shipped and an external shipment company will take care of the shipment.
The whole process with the required tasks will go through several resources. The resources that should be used are the costumer, the system, the library which will serve as a supplier, the payment system and shipment.
KPI's (minimum 3):
- Since the books are separated into categories, we want to measure which category of books do the customers borrow the most?
- We offer to the costumer different borrowing period of times (2, 3, and 4- weeks), for different prices. Therefore we want to measure which of the options is most likely to be chosen.
- Other option the customers can chose is regarding shipment. They can chose to personally take the book or get the shipment from our company for a certain price. We want to measure which option is more chosen.
