Hello, my idea is based on the same kind of principle as ‘Speedquizzing’ (you can find the app on the IOS App Store and Google Play Store - please read the documentation as it explains their setup very well). I have just created a website for my idea, which is still work in progress - you can find it here: [login to view URL]
In short the idea is this:
The host will compere the evening and will run the hosting software from a pc or mac. Participants will then download / launch the mobile app (iOS or Android) to join the game. I will need to buy h/ware for this i.e. a hub/router so it in effect becomes a private n/w - this is to ensure that if the internet goes down that the game can continue to function. Once all participants have joined then the game can begin.
I do not know if you understand the game of Bingo but if you look online you will see how it works (look for UK Bingo as opposed to Bingo in other countries) - I have attached a real UK ticket so that you know what it looks like. For info, UK Bingo is played with 90 numbers.
I have played Bingo for a number of years and I know how 'land Bingo' works i.e. Bingo played in an official Bingo hall, eg Mecca. In the UK version, the game is split into 3 prizes: the first prize is known as '1 line'...a player wins when they are the first person to match all 5 numbers within any distinct line in 1 of the 15-numbered sections (a ticket is divided into 6 x 15 number sections, i.e. making 90 balls in total), the second prize is awarded when a player is the first to complete 2 lines of 5 numbers within one of the 15 number sections (known as '2 lines') and the final award in that game is awarded to the player who first completes all 15 numbers within one of the 15 sections (known as a 'full house'). Should more than 1 player win on the same number then the prize is shared between the winning players, eg if 2 people are waiting on number 50 to complete a 'full house' and number 50 is drawn out before anybody else wins, then they both win half of the prize.
So onto what I will need:
The host pc/mac will randomly* select the numbers 1-90 until someone wins the game being played (i.e. 1 line, 2 lines or full house). *In UK Bingo halls, the numbers have already been pre-determined via random selection, then saved to what are known as 'RNPs' - Random Number Packs, which have been generated off-site by what is known as an 'RNG' - Random Number Generator. The RNP for the current game is loaded up and the host computer is then ready to deliver the numbers. This ensures for integrity and so that there is no slow-down of the pc / mac when looking to determine whether the current number being called has already been drawn. I think I can buy some RNPs on the internet but if not then I will create my own packs.
In terms of what needs to happen on the mobile app - when a person joins and pays the fee to participate, they should be presented with their ticket for the first game. On the host there needs to be some kind of 'Start Game n(umber)' button to initiate the game and bring up the first number, the players should be presented with their own unique ticket on screen (TBD as to where i get these from), for the UK games each of the 90 numbers on that ticket must be present and none duplicated - see example UK ticket as to what I mean. Each game should have it's own color, eg game 1 Blue, game 2 Green etc. When the first number is displayed to the host it must also be displayed to the mobile app for each player. The player needs to then 'mark off' the number on their ticket, and continue to do this until the first prize is won, and so on until the 3rd and final prize for that game is won. That game (eg Blue) then ends, the winners receive their prize money and then everyone moves onto the next game etc.
I have some further requirements to discuss (app/ host pc) and in relation to providing licenses / subscriptions to hosts around the country - please let me know if you are interested.
