Note: this must work in google sheets. Don't offer to do in Excel.
We have a list of words that have the vowels missing. We need a function that will take each cell in a selected column and add a number to the next column. (if column A is selected, numbers should be added to column B, etc). The number should equal the number of contiguous consanants at the start of a word. The first letter should be ignored and included as 1 in the count. If no vowels after the first letter, value should be set to 0.
Reminder: vowels = A,E,I,O,U, sometimes Y
Prviding - 3 (three letters before i)
Advntis - 5 (five letters before i)
Andrwe - 5 (five letters before e)
Armstng - 0 (no vowels after the first letter)
Below is a link to a test sheet with words. Number to be added to column D. We are not sure if we want to include "Y" as a vowel. Make an easy way to change to add/remove Y as a vowel.
