High Voltage Pulse for 50 Ohm antenna

It is a driver for output high voltage pulses.

We are interested in your products, more specifically in your electronic driver units for generating a high voltage pulse, which penetrate into the ground, and then record the reflexion electromagnetic waves as signals recorded in the receiver unit.

The high voltage pulse has the following characteristics:

Central frequency: 100 MHz.

Bandwidth: short pulse type, similar to UWB signal.

Pulse shape: Single type pulse, sine form, as monocycle or half cycle pulse. Gaussian also.

Pulse width: 10 nanoseconds for main energy around 100 MHz.

Pulse amplitude: High voltage pulse, values could be from 100 to 1000 V. Only one value is enough in that range, not selectable.

Repetition rate: more than 100 Hz.

Load: dipole type antenna, 50 Hz impedance. It is a high current pulse.

External power supply: Lead-acid battery or lithium pack batteries. 12 V, 24 V, or other common DC power values.

Some questions and answers about this project:

Do you need parameters to be adjustable?

In our first stages of our development, we do not need adjustable parameters.

Voltage 100V to 1kV adjustable.

Not adjustable, just in the range of these. If already you have a HV pulser in that range, we could use it.

Repetition rate - how high do you wish to go? Note that the power consumption will scale like the repetition rate.

More than 100 Hz could be useful, but we can evaluate in the case that you have a pulser with less than this repetition rate.

Do you want a rate generator included or will you provide a trigger source?

I will provide a trigger source with an external circuit. I could be a signal from the DAQ board, for example.

Pulse length 10 to 50 ns - do you want this adjustable? If so should it be in steps or continuously.

Just similar case to other technical specifications, for our first experiments we do not need an adjustable pulse length.

We are interested in a pulse with central frequency of 100 MHz, so a pulse length should be of 10 ns. The pulse shape could be gaussian, half of sine wave, or something similar, but with the main energy and its maximum in 100 MHz. If you have other products already manufactured with other central frequencies, we could also consider it.

Output impedance 50 Ω.

Yes, because the output of the pulser is just a dipole antenna , with 50 Ohm of characteristic impedance.

Protected against load short circuits.

It is not something esencial, but it could be considered .

Low voltage DC powered.

Yes, 12 V, 24 V, or other voltage performed by a pack of lithium batteries.

Do you have a specified shape or volume to consider?

For now , we only need a one unit , in OEM format, just a electronic board.
