I need a chain or arduino's, maybe more then 100 Arduino's even. I am not sure which protocol I like to use. I think I2C and also RS232 are options. Each Arduino needs a number of digital IO at least 16 or so. Each Arduino must be able to send short messages to the neighboring Arduino. The whole chain must be controlled by a pc.

Hi, I understand what kind of system you need. There are these kind of system circuit like motor drivers etc. I definetely suggesy I2C to reach all chain board on the same line. RS232 has some minus for the system. All the BEST, Ali SERBETCI

Hello, I am very experienced in development on the Arduino and other similar platforms. I have read your project details and I am interested in working with you. I want to suggest that we can use wifi enable microcontrollers like the NODEMCU, which are just as cheap as the Arduino and are also compatible with the Arduino IDE. Using this wifi enabled microcontrollers, we can set up each microcontroller as a client and connect all of them to another microcontroller or a laptop which will act as a server. This is a wireless solution that will avoid the use of wires and is also 100% compatible with the Arduino platform. Please contact m so that we can go over the details of your project or explore other solutions. thank you.

Hello I have got your job posting “Daisy chain of Arduino's with IO.” and I am very much interested to work in your project. I am a circuit designer and have more than 5 years experience of working with the Analog/Digital Electronics embedded systems(Arduino,Rasberry pi ,ARM processors ,PIC microcontrollers,Wireless boards,TFT Touch Displays,All types of sensors and actuators). i have done tons of similar projects So, I think you’ll find, I have the skills you’re looking for. For more on my skills and successfully finished projects, please have a look on my Profile and Portfolio. I have all the components available here with me so i will develop a working prototype according to your specifications and then send you the code and schematics so things will work for sure.I will remotely guide you and help you build the system on your side. I am always available on Email and Skype. Please have a voice or video chat if necessary. I shall be available round the clock and able to start your project as soon as possible according to you. Thank you for your consideration, Best Regards, Haseeb Shafqat

Hello, Deep is here from Ahmedabad. Basically I'm Embedded System Developer.. I can help you to develop Arduino chain controlled by PC. I have similar experience. RS485 communication is preferable. In this case PC will act as Master and Arduinos will act as Slaves. PC will send Slave address and command to operate IO of Arduinos.

Hi I have experience in embedded systems especially in AVR series , PIC I can finish this project If you want just IO connection I would recommend I2C expander with 16 IO you can use 128 device with just 4 wires + 1 interrupt line for all device for more than IO communication we can use Arduino chips

Dear sir/Mam, I understood your concept and it would be my pleasure to be a part of your project. Here's my understanding of project: -A no. of arduino's(100) will be connected in a chain. - Pc will initiate the signal. that of which arduino's which pin will have to be turned on or off. - This can be done providing each arduino a unique id. - The signal will be initiated by pc to first arduino if it matches the id of first arduino then good otherwise will pass the data to next one. The above mentioned algo is just an abstract in my mind, We may find more similar algo's like that. Please let me know if we can discuss further. Regards: Ankita Thakur

I can offer you a protocol definition of the messages that you need to send to other modules and timings. Besides we can talk about error handling, if one of the modules stops his reception or transmission, take preventive actions. The code will be easy to understand (Mostly of the lines commented), modular programming (code can be able to run in other platform changing some interfaces) and maintainable.

Hello. I have more than 5 years experience with Arduino IDE and different hardware. What Arduino model you want to use? Do you have some more requirements except Arduino count? What will be an environment where Arduinos must work? (probably if requirements are aggressive with a lot of electromagnetic noises or distance are more then 5 meters better to use rs485 protocol) I think the best way for you will be a development of the library that will be easy to use in different projects. For the desktop APP, I propose to use Windows Forms and C#. Regards, Bohdan.

Hello, I'm an expert with the Arduino and the underlying hardware (Atmel AVR) and I'd like to work with you on this project. There are a few options for protocols as you mentioned, and I would select one based on a few more specifications. I2C is usually a master-slave interface but applicable to daisy-chaining if the first Arduino is denoted as the master. This wouldn't allow for communication between adjacent Arduinos, however, and only the master can initiate a transfer. Cable length also becomes a concern if the data bus is spread over a large distance. On the other hand, RS232 would allow communication between adjacent Arduinos, where either can initiate a data transfer. However, moving data all the way up the chain would be much slower than with I2C. Also, each Arduino has only one native UART port to support RS232, so the other connection would be made in software-only (which is slower again). If you'd like to discuss the project in a little more detail, I'd be happy to provide a recommendation and work on implementing the software. Please feel free to contact me via chat.

Hi! The protocol to use depends on the distance between each successive Arduino, and the environmental conditions. If each successive Arduino is less than 1 foot away from the next, a Serial protocol like UART is feasible. I work extensively with WiFi protocols. If it makes sense for your application, we can also consider doing this on WiFi. We can set up PC control via USB / Serial Monitor. Is there some specific function that the Arduino has to perform in response to a message? I am an experienced Arduino developer, and can already visualise how to go about this project. I propose to demonstrate this on a chain of 3 arduinos and then extrapolate the code to accommodate any number of devices in the daisy chain. I foresee a 10-12 day timeline to provide you all the codes. Hopefully it might get done earlier than that.

Hi, I think I can do it. In fact, I2C & RS232 can' support too many parts. I think you need add industry bus to connect more than 100 pcs Auduino. I am expert in Circuit design/PCB layout/firmware develop. I have more than 19 years experiences. I have developed a lot of products, some of these is used in China High-Speed system. Please contact me and discuss about your requirements, thanks.
