Customize PropertyGrid to encrypt/mask a field marked as [Password] in WPF application

As this is no longer a standard feature, I need to have this customized so that when a field is mark with the attribute [Password], it will mask the property grid with a specific character i.e. * for example. I want to be able to customize the character as well, it this need to be settable via the attribute i.e. [Password(char="*")]. It doesn't need to encrypt anything, just hide it when displayed in the property grid. I obviously need to be able to retrieve the value via code rather than the string of "*" representing the password.
