Children’s Book List Using what you now know about quality children’s literature (From the readings attached with this project), develop a bibliography of 12 high-quality children’s books appropriate for children aged birth to eight. (See below .) For each book, provide the following information:  Reference information (APA style);  Recommended age range (0-12 months, 12-24 months, 24-36 months, 3 to 5 years);  Plot summary (1-5 sentences);  Any other important observations about the book. Lastly, for each book:  Include one creative suggestion for extending learning from the book during a home visit or in an infant/toddler, preschool, or kindergarten classroom to support a specific skill(s). This activity should build on or be inspired by the content of the book. The activity should be easy to implement in a home visiting setting and in early childhood or kindergarten classroom setting.  Indicate what early learning standard this activity addresses (use the Early Learning Standards attached with this order). ORGANIZATION: 12 books are included in the assignment. For each book, reference information suggested age range, and clearly written plot summary are included. Information presented in a well-organized, clear manner. (5 points) BOOK SELECTION: Each selected book represents a high-quality contribution to children’s literature, as described in the readings and the guest lecture. The composition of the booklist includes At least 2 books appropriate for infants aged birth to 2 years; At least 2 books appropriate for children aged 2 to 4 years; At least 2 books appropriate for children aged 5 to 8 years; At least 2 concept books (e.g., numbers, letters, colors, shapes, etc.); At least 1 nonfiction book; and At least 1 folktale or fairy tale. (5 points) ACTIVITIES: Each activity suggestion supports an age appropriate early literacy skill(s) and can be easily implemented in an early childhood home visiting or classroom setting. The activity is engaging and well-designed for an infant/toddler or preschool audience. Description of each activity is clear and is based on or builds on the content of the identified book. For each activity the appropriate Early Learning Standard has been identified (you can find the standers attached with this project) (20 points) for one of the activities you have to Create a prop or set of materials that would support one of the activities you suggest above.
