Hello, From what the EventLog record says it seems that you: a. Running a server with Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V role b. Same physical server is a Domain Controller c. Running a backup via VSS So, there is a troubleshooting path for that sort of errors - VSS writers hung. But, unfortunately, if these 3 conditions above are right, then this problem will deem to repeat itself again and again. The better setup would be: a. A server running Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V role b. A virtual machine with Windows Server 2012 R2 - it will be free of cost - which runs the Domain Controller c. You will have 1 more free license to run 1 more Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine In that case the mentioned problems with Hyper-V VSS Writers would be a history, and your domain controller would be isolated from Hyper-V role and highly mobile. Until then the troubleshooting will be very fragile, since the box might likely need a reboot, and during that time your domain function will not work (unless you got 2nd DC in a network). Before touching anything you will have to make sure you got the most recent image backup of the server - to be able to perform 100% full recovery on a bare metal if anything goes wrong. Let me know if you want to discuss this problem and resolution in details.
