We have a PowerShell script I run in our File Server. It is a script that will change the permissions of every subfolder therein named “EXAMPLE” so that only admins can see them. When a new folder named “EXAMPLE” is created, it automatically inherits permissions from its parent. The script changes it so that every other subfolder within that same parent is open to everyone, but the sensitive data within "EXAMPLE" can be protected.
Way back in the day, we had a scheduled task to run this every hour so that if a new folder was created, it would get locked down within the hour. That scheduler stopped working with the script, and I was told it was because a Windows update no longer supported it.
The answer was to then manually run it as needed. Now I have the problem is this: I can run it fine. I navigate to the file server where the script is stored. Right click “Run with Power shell” and minimize, and go on my way. HOWEVER, my other admin does the exact same thing, and he gets an error.
Looking for help with our script - to make sure we are doing this the best way. Also to determine what is the difference between the two user profiles that ends with one admin getting an error.
Hi There Senior Systems Engineer here. I would like to complete this project for you. I can provide you with my windows server 2012 certifications as well. Please let me know when your available to discuss further.
I really don't see the reason why PowerShell script would not work from scheduled task and there is no connection with Windows update for sure. I can check your script and can give you instructions how to schedule it and it will work for sure.
Hello. More 20 years programming experience.
Case with 2 users need investigation, but for running script why not use win schedule?
Regards.

I would need to know the error you encounter. Then possibly need to remote into the client machines or server where the script is run to verify settings. I will also need to know the policies attached to the user and computer (if applicable) in active directory.
