I do a LOT of backing up of computers. Every now and then, I miss a couple important directories, such as the Intuit folder in program files. I need a program that can scan a drive for certain folders larger than a certain size. The program should be self-executable without having to load or install anything else. This will allow it to run from a portable flash drive. The first screen should prompt what drive to scan and what drive to backup to. It should prompt for a name (of the directory) to backup the data to. After scanning the drive, it should prompt for contents of "documents and settings" and Users. I need a collapsable tree that shows the common directories already selected. These folders need to be marked for each username found. Also, common folders need to be found and marked, such as program files/intuit, program files/turbotax, etc. All folders not standard in the root directory need to be marked by default, so if someone has "Family Tree Maker" in their root folder, I don't forget it. Ideally, a [login to view URL] file would be used containing two sections. The first would be a list of folders to search for in each user directory. The second would be a list of folders to search for in the program files. This is where I can add "outlook express" and "intuit". An options in the [login to view URL] should be a size for each directory. If the directory is smaller than this size (in KB) then it is automatically unchecked. For example, the "user/application data/microsoft/address book" directory is 344KB when empty. I type 346 into the [login to view URL] entry and it only marks the folder if that directory is larger than that amount. The listing window in program should show folder size and date modified. Finally, it should create a folder in the destination drive and copy the user directories and others into it. A common problem is bad sectors on HDDs and corrupt files. The program needs to be able to skip these files and continue without having to start the process over. The program should also create a logfile of all files/folders backed up and place it in the destination directory as well. Any questions, feel free to let me know. ## Deliverables attached is previous correspondence concerning this program, as well as incomplete sample, icons, logos, etc.
