Config of Cisco 2611 acting as ''Gateway'' to remote network device

We currently have a Cisco 2611 router running IOS Version 12.2(27). The Cisco router acts as the "Gateway" to a rmeotely located linux network device. See the attached zip file for a white paper showing the set-up.

There are two connections from the Cisco 2611 router acting as the "Gateway" to the remote linux network device:

- The primary connection consists of a GRE over IPSec tunnel via an Ethernet Interface.

- A Secondary backup Connection that is a GRE over IPSec tunnel via Async interface (utilizes PSTN capabilities).

In the case that the primary connection fails, the secondary backup will automatically be dialed by the Linux Network Device to the Cisco Router or by the Cisco router to the Linux Network Device depending on the situation.

The problem we are having is that the Cisco router is not recognizing the Primary connection (GRE Tunnel) as down, and therefore, when the Linux Network device dials the Cisco router, the route is not being switched.

We need to be able to track the state of the GRE tunnels using the current Cisco IOS and without using GRE keepalives.

Changes to the Linux Network Device are not possible.

***** See attached file for the current Cisco configuration file, and a document that describes the Secure Remote Appliance that the Cisco Router is being configured to support.**

## Deliverables

A configuration file that can be loaded on the Cisco 2611 Router described above and achieve the desired routing capabilities between the Primary In-Band link and the Secondary Out-of-Band Link.
