Create Internal Website Application for Magazine Production

Need a site for use by our internal team to coordinate on articles for multiple magazines going to print. Fairly simple website development but needs to be tailored to our needs and workflow. I have basic understanding of Rails development but this project extends beyond my ability. I also have an html/css template purchased that I would like implemented for the website. I prefer this be built in Rails so that I can troubleshoot any simple errors, but am open to other languages/frameworks. This portion is part 1 of a 5 part project that extends into other divisions of our company, and will eventually be a large internal system for our company and our clients. Whoever wins this project will be most likely be used for modifications/future upgrades on an hourly or per-project basis. Part 1: Editorial Workflow Requirements: "User" Authentication & Roles (with limits on access based on role) -Ability to add new users (admin only) ******* "Contacts" -Name -Phone -Email -Address -All associated "Organizations" (multiple, linked to organizations table) -Generated List of "Articles" associated with this contact ******* "Organizations" -Name -Address -Phone -All associated "Contacts" -Generated List of "Articles" ******* "Magazines" - Dropdown List of "Magazines", when clicked, display nested "Issues" ******* "Issues" -Cover image (jpg) -PDF upload/download -Print Deadline (date) -List of "Issues" inside selected "Magazine", when clicked, display nested "Articles" ******* "Articles" -(nested inside of "Issues") -Articles will need a rich text editor, with the ability to save versions (see image) -Articles will need to have comments -Articles will need to be able to revert to and compare versions (see attached image) -Article status updates (i.e. Lead, Subject Approved, Q&A Sent, Q&A Received, Proof, Ready for Design) -Article deadline dates -Options to assign users to positions on each article (Photographer, Editor, Designer) -Email notifications to users on articles -Ability to forward to other users for editing, with notifications -"Contact" Name -"Organization" Name -Allow batch uploading of photos, displaying thumbnails of photos after upload -Allow batch download of final text file & photos into zip file (only available when article in "Ready for Design" status) ******* User Dashboard -List of articles with upcoming deadlines -Any notifications (comments) ****** Activity Log -with ability to sort by type of activity (comments, uploads, creations, deletions) -only visible to certain user roles This is the basics of the application. We use a current third party system (pictured) that we are looking to mimic most of the features from, and will provide access to the system to be able to duplicate those features. Will set up hosting and AWS separately with you so that the application runs smoothly. Future projects: Full CMS system branch off of "Contacts" & "Organizations", Ad management system off of "Issues", invoicing, billing and payment system, final additions and continued support (hourly).
