I am interested in developing a little application for initial use with AOL instant messenger and subsequent ports to other environments (PDAs, cell phones, open source, or any Windows compatible application). Initially, it will only involve a 2-column table lookup (searching 1 column for user input and outputting the corresponding column to standard output thereby replacing the user input with the found text) to mimic the MS Word AutoCorrect function.
Response time must be instantaneous.
It gets a little more complicated than that by adding functionality for special key combinations, parsing (for advanced versions of the software), and the lookup of special characters but nothing I imagine will be much of a problem for an experienced coder.
Nice to have: The ability to display multiple (rotating/replaceable) URL's with subsequent spawning of a new browser window when clicked. These URL's should be retrieved from a web site. This is not essential for initial versions however.
My primary concerns are portability/adaptability to different environments (with as minimal need for significant recoding as possible), COPY PROTECTION of the source (lookup) file and the disabling of program execution if (version specific) exe attributes don't match (version specific) lookup file attributes.
Future versions will require more database oriented functions (SQL-like DML). However I want to maintain the smallest possible footprint.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
