We are looking to create a tablet (iPad/Android) application to be used by professionals in a specific industry. The business processes in the industry are well understood, and there are plenty of traditional software packages available which perform the same job as we would like to do here, but with complex and non-user-friendly UI.
This job is to work through some of the existing applications with us, and map out a step-change improvement in UI, specifically designed for touchscreen devices. There will also be a web-component (all work done on the touchscreen device will be automatically posted to a remote server, which will also host a web-interface to allow the same/additional functionality). We are open to specifying the UI for this at the same time as the touchscreen app.
## Deliverables
You will need to meet the employers to discuss the brief in detail, either in person (preferred) or via video call.
You will then work through one or two existing applications in the industry (we will specify these) and identify their workflows and apparent business rules.
You will then create an entirely new interface to deliver the same functionality. Our brief will outline the directional approach here, but basically:
1. The existing software in the industry works in a traditional SAP-style interface (lots of grids with drop downs and right clicking to select options). Many features will require multiple layers of dropdown or traditional "top of screen menu options"
2. Our software will translate this sort of functionality to an intuitive touch application, where the user can quickly see all the available options, touch one, and then be presented with the next set of available options (a bit like the EPOS system in a bar or restaurant; where the top-level touchable buttons are (eg) "drink", "food", "reservation", "billing" etc. Touching "drink" reveals "cocktails", "beers", "wines" etc. Touching cocktails gives a list of cocktails etc)
