Looking for advice. Want to programatically sew together user-provided images as well as overlay text in font of my choice. Linux environment. This will be backend of a web-application ... no opportunity for a person to be in the middle using some interactive tool :)
If presented with 6 image files .... what tool(s) exist for putting them together into a single ANIMATED GIF. Will spend a few seconds showing the first image .. then a few seconds on the second image etc. Important that can insert/overlay text (captions).
If such tool doesn't exist "off the shelf" .. what technology/libraries/approach should be best used?
Native tongues are Perl and Java.
