Build a Website

Overview: Once on the results page the user is presented with filtering options on the left hand side of the screen. As a user changes selections or selects items the result set updates client side. There is also a sorting drop down to sort the result set as well. The idea is to make as few requests as possible back to the server. This site will eventually be implementing a responsive design and the more we can process client side, the better. Amenities: This will be a list of checkboxes that a user can check or uncheck to filter / un-filter the result set. The value of the checkbox will equal a numeric code that will be an array within the JSON dataset. Results can/may contain several amenity codes per result in the dataset. Cabin Class: Each result in the dataset will only have a single cabin class assigned. As users check / uncheck associated checkboxes for cabin class the result set will be updated client side. Bedrooms: A drop down with numeric values. When changed this sets a minimum filter on the result set for bedrooms. Example user selects 3 bedrooms, result set will show any result with 3 bedrooms or larger. Sleeps: A drop down with numeric values. When changed this sets a minimum filter on the result set for sleeps. Example user selects sleeps 6, result set will show any result with 6 or more bedrooms. Check In / Check Out date picker: This option will query against an array of booked days in the json dataset for each result. If available the result is kept in the result set, if unavailable the result is omitted from the result set. Sorting: Options include relevance, customer rating, cabin class, and room count (bedrooms). Relevance is just the normal order of the sort, others should be self-explanatory. Pagination: Need to be able to easily adjust the number of results on the page for future adjustments. A simple “Next” and “Previous” to cycle through the result set is all that is required. Extras: As the filters and queries are performed a visual representation of what they have selected needs to be shown across the top as bread crumbs with the option to remove them. Also if the check-in / check-out query has been applied it needs to be attached as query string to the select button link on each result. This way when the user selects the property for more information if the dates are selected, they will not have to reselect the dates on the next page.
