I need complete source code in C# (or C++, if and only if you have ??"good- reason to, and explain it to me first) that’s able to decompress all Source Engine .dem files so they basically look as a GoldSource Engine (Half-Life 1 engine) demo file. Unlike the GoldSource engine demo format, the Source engine format is (as far as I know) compressed with either custom compression or public (gzip possibly?). **Example** For GoldSource engine demos (.dem files) you can open the demo file in a hex editor, and search for all in-game chat messages, console commands (executed by the client, like the status command), and most other in-game strings in raw format. So you can actually see all this information from a simple hex editor, because it is not compressed or encrypted in any way. For Source engine demos (also .dem files), it’s different. All in-game chat messages, console commands and almost everything else except the demo header has some kind of compression (it’s not stored in raw format at least) ??" and therefore you obviously cannot get this info out of a hex editor without decompressing it first. As stated above I need complete working source code which will decompress all Source engine demos (Counter-Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source etc) so I can extract the information from a hex editor. You are free to use any means necessary to get this job done ??" you can use the HL2 SDK (not much info here though), contact valve itself, use your own knowledge, use the internet etc. I do however, need complete documentation of every external source ??" if you’re lucky enough to have worked with the Source engine before you’d need to comment in the code where appropriate if the knowledge cannot be gained from a direct source like the SDK ??" for ex from Valve itself. I expect you to be fully self-driven in this project, even though I know a good deal about the source engine I am not able to help you in any way. I am looking forward to your bids. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. Must meet all requirements exactly like stated above unless otherwise agreed upon by both seller and buyer. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform All Windows systems >= XP
