Hello. This is a small job, for a specific chunk of code rather than a complete app. If I have that chunk of code I can do the rest myself. This means that you don't have to worry yourself with overall design, colours etc. In fact, I don't expect you to deliver anything beyond a single .swift file of a view controller.
Now, the what it actually is.
I simply (?) want to draw a bunch of a dots in a grid. Despite knowing a bit of programming myself, it has proven a deceptively annoying task. However, these "dots" should conform to the following limitations:
- Their number should depend on a variable.
- Based on that variable, they should always draw a square grid, with any extra dots making at most 1 extra line under it. To give an example. If the number is 25, this ought to be a 5x5 square grid. But if the number is 26, this ought to be a 5x5 square grid + an extra line with 1 dot under it. If the number is 86, that would be a 9x9 square grid +an extra line line with 5 dots.
- The square grid (+- extra line), should have some distance from the edges of the screen. That distance, along with the distance of the dots on the grid, and their diameter should be controllable in code. I don't need any UI elements etc, just to be able by reading the code, to figure out what numbers I should change to try different sizes, distances etc.
And finally.
- Whatever draws the dots, should be able to handle up to 30.000! This means basically a square of 173 x 173 (+ an exta line of 71), at which size, on an iphone 4s screen, they'd probably end up looking like single pixels (I have no problem with that).
The reason I mention that, is because I suspect things like collection views might end up too slow and unstable for this purpose. You will probably need knowledge of cgrect or uibenzier and stuff.
And that's it.
I found your problem too interesting and went on and implemented it as a UIView subclass in a playground.
You can find the code at [login to view URL]
If you feel it's worth your money, feel free to use it and accept my bid.
The code as presented there can be copied into a swift file and even used in a storyboard, with the relevant variables inspectable in Interface Builder.
Cheers.
