As for existing data, importing it is definitely possible and I would actually ask that you send me a copy of your existing data so that I can review the best possible database design for your needs. We can add a few features and functions to make it as easy and as fool proof as you require, with the acknowledgement that additional functions take a bit of time in certain cases, but doable nevertheless.
