I recently purchased ASUS EEE PC 1000H. The notebook came with some sort of customized Xandros (Linux) operating system. Everything worked out of the box. However, box is what it is. Being a Linux O/S I was expecting at least a Telnet prompt. However, the whole O/S has been designed more like a PDA, where very little expansion is possible. My intention was to get **geeky** using this little device.
I need the following:
1. Recommendation: If I stick with the same O/S, how can I open up the hidden functionality (Like Ubuntu), if such functionality exists. How can I install good tsuff like Java, C, C++ compilers etc?
2. If you recommend to switch the O/S, I will need some cocrete help about installing the recommended O/S. I believethe drivers for built in Wifi and Webcam are not supported on other Linux builds like Ubuntu.
For this project you need to able to have used ASUS EEE PC machines.
