We are in need of a utility that will automate the process of aligning vector objects based on certain parameters. Currently, the process goes as follows and is done manually: 1. 50-150 objects are stacked on top of each other in a .ai file 2. Objects are then separated into groups by colors (~20 colors). Each color group is moved to the designated artboard for that color. 3. The objects are arranged with 0.5" gaps between objects. 4. Script must minimize the space taken up by all the vector objects to have lowest possible area. 5. Each artboard is 36" x 11.3". Script must not exceed these dimensions when arranging objects. If objects for an artboard exceed these dimensions, a second artboard can be used for remaining objects. I have attached screenshots to show some examples of the process. I have also attached a "template" .ai file that may be helpful. This can be used for the project, or you are free to modify/create your own if needed. What we need from you, is a script that is compatible with Adobe Illustrator CS6, that will automate all of the steps outlined above. PROGRAMMING PROFICIENCY IS A MUST! MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH ADOBE SCRIPTING.

Good afternoon! I think, this project is for me, because i'm working in a press as a prepress man. I've written some similar scripts to automate the process of my job. We produce self-adhesive labels on digital press. My plan is to separate objects by color, then sort the color groups by height (biggest is first) and finnally align objects on artboards.
