Book Cover Design/Adjustments

We have a novel by the name of "Prince of Our Dreams". We have made a primary cover design, but we would like to make the cover reflect the theme and feel of the book more accurately. •Theme The design needs to move away from its current structure and into more expansive and creative designs, with richness and beauty and flow. More sweep and more emotion to reflect the content of the book. We want to remain with the theme of the antique parchment look, to match the theme of the book, and the 16th Century flavor. Since the content is faithful to the era, maintain that feel. The edges of the book, specifically the top left corner of the back, where the shadow occurs is along the lines of the feeling we are looking for, but want to extend that into the rest of the design. •Specific Ideas -One idea is using symbols like the Tudor Rose and the Fleur de Lis and the Maltese cross, etc. Try to stay accurate to the design of the symbols found on the shoulder of the individual in the portrait, and the rose symbol included in this project. This might bring out a regal theme to the cover, which we would be happy with. -Create a frame around the portrait, preferably gold. We want it to be more elegant. Draw out the regal nature of the character, because the man in the portrait is a prince. -We would like to use the colors found in the ruby box that holds the text "Young Shakespeare". Take that maroon/ruby color and see if it can be tastefully implemented in other areas of the design. That color is rich and has an antique feel, we would like to see more of it. -On the bottom left of the back of the cover, where there is empty space, see if there can be some kind of imprinted symbol or design (like those mentioned earlier) that would fill the gap and provide a feeling consistent with the theme of the front of the cover, [a feeling akin to a king's ring stamped on a ruby wax seal] -Make the background parchment color just a little richer and warmer brown. Not too much, just a subtle increase in saturation.
