Analyze some Data

I am a research scientist and have considerable experience with data analysis. I have experience with excel, having done some lab demonstrating at uni last semester where I taught students to use excel to analyse their experimental data. Also I am from Australia, so we will have the same timezone which may help if extra communication is necessary, and I will have a clearer understanding of the geographical information you are seeking. I propose to: (1) extract day of the week from each bet. (2) extract the 4 character location information from each bet. (4) put the relevant data into a pivot table. - you will have a section for each location, and a subsection for each day of the week, and information on your percentage wins and losses in each subsection. (5) more information may be needed to extract geographical location from the data you have provided. I will included that in the pivot table once I have it: you will have a section above the level of the location, to represent the state. (6) some of the data you provided with your listing did not make sence. It will cost extra for me to cleanse your data.

Hey, If I understand the requirement correctly, this is just one time work to Analyze the Spreadsheet data and present the results or is it a recurring work to be done every week since Odds and other conditions may vary for all races over a period of time. I have worked on several different problems which are similar to this, for example, for my last project I have analyzed if a client will deposit savings, based on 17 attributes. Your first problem may be solved with a more complex SQL query. Second problem is a clustering problem. Hi, I am new to this, but decent at looking at data. Looking at your spreadsheet I notice that a database would best serve you moving forward. This would allow you to store the location, date, day of the week, winnings, etc. Then we can write some scripts to query the data, and I will use this to try to identify some of the relationships that you describe, as well as others that I may be able to determine from your data. I would start by making histograms for each month/track/day of the week as a starting point. This could be used as the basis for a probability model for each independent variable you mention. Due to low budget, little data validation is possible, but a quick and dirty analysis should help by getting this into a database. I can also set a script up to upload new data, and allow new data to be incorporated into the pre-defined analysis if you get python setup on your machine. Cheers, Lucas
