Assume that the mass of the vehicle is 1600Kg and the speed of hitting a wall is equal to 64Kph (Figure 4) Design a crash structure (Figure 4) according to your engineering choices. The design of the crash structure gauges, lengths and materials and the entire emerged outcome (performance, weight, cost) are free for you to develop. However you need to abide to a good crash performance for the overall deceleration crash case. Key parameters and proportions need be explained and justified adequately. Assuming occupant has the same decelerations with the vehicle consider deceleration limits according to the Human Tolerance & Survivability Guide. Key calculations and assumptions need be explained and justified adequately. A spreadsheet from the previous assignment (different yet relevant to the series of assignments) is provided as example or to expand upon. In this previous assignment the forced was given to be 80KN this is no longer the case (calculations from the 1600kg and 64kph required to know the new force) in the previous assignment the only values of the crash structure were the gauge thickness of each section, (and as a result the CSA of the sections too) and the material selection (same materials and values as this assignment) were variables in the results. In this assignment however we need to spreadsheet the results of the gauge thicknesses, materials, and section length as the variables. These equation/formula based spreadsheet results require that the stress MPA values be conditionally formatted to illustrate those selections which fail in terms of human survivability. (max deceleration values previously to be calculated) Results required: Initial energy is needed to be as an extra column in the result spreadsheets unlike the previous given. Energy/force/velocity/displacement spreadsheet calculations. Energy/force/velocity/displacement: final intrusion and final forces entering the cabin. (to calculate the injury calculations) Indication/illustration of each section within the spreadsheet showing weather the section as met plastic or elastic deformation. Graphical comparison of performance in terms of cheapest vs lightest vs safest (of only sections of which pass the human survivability rates
