I am a PC user who has used Eudora as my mail client for more than 10 years, and have stored thousands of emails in Eudora that I need daily access to. It's time for me to start using Gmail, and I wish to switch to Mac anyway. I have tried to research how to migrate mail over to Gmail, and have even tried it myself, but it doesn't work. As far as I can tell, it can't be done directly, and I can't tell which available procedures mentioned in online forums have solutions for me. Can you help me?

Add a Gmail account with IMAP on Eudora. Then simply move all your emails from your local folder to gmail an IMAP gmail folder. It will start uploading the emails into the gmail account. It will take a while and you can do it in smaller patches.
I use a similar procedure every once in a while to clean up another email account that has tighter space limitation.
Don't forget to take a backup of your local message files before starting this.
