We have a small file of 3562 items supplied by Acklands Grainger containing items that we purchased in the past two years direct charge and want to put these in our Catalogue. However, many of the current descriptions contain “advertising type comments” i.e. “…comes with the new and improved best in classs xxxx” that we do not want in the description.
If interested, please send me a reflection of your understanding of the work, a sample of cleansed items (the first 25 items in the attached Catalogue Cleansing and Formatting Base File) , price and lead time to complete, and some references of recent companies you have executed similar work with.
We do not intend to pay upfront partial payments for this small request but only after successful submission and validation.
The work then would include:
1. Employ Description Standards
1.1. SKU descriptions, descriptions that include units of measure, acronyms and abbreviations shall follow guidelines in accordance with Catalogue Standards Rev. 6 found attached hereto. All catalogue descriptions shall use Canadian English as standard wording.
2. Assign Noun / Item Name
2.1. Determine the one word noun that accurately represents each SKU. Noun = what it is.
3. Cleanse
3.1. Remove all references to manufacturer, supplier names or acronyms / abbreviations and part numbers from the description field and place them in separate individual fields on the row.
3.2. If invalid or redundant information is contained in the description field, follow the same procedure.
3.3. Remove any surplus wording that is promotional in nature, we only want the technical spec and salient descriptors.
4. Standardize
4.1. Describe SKUs in a common manner. It is important that key information is situated in the first 40 characters of description. The description field will be structured as follows:
4.1.1.1. First the prime adjective(s), followed by size, then type, model, material, etc.
4.2. You will be required to parse the final complete description into the fields. That is to parse each description into four x 40 character fields. Any additional information would be populated into a 5th “extended description” field. All fields shall begin with and end with a full word / number
5. Classify
5.1. Assign NATO Class to each SKU.
5.2. All classification shall be in accordance with NATO standards.
6. Suggest Colloquial Names
6.1. Colloquial names shall include the single Item Name (noun) singular and plural in English. In addition, if there are commonly understood trade names or names commonly recognized in industry that “is” the exact SKU being reviewed, include those as additional colloquial names.
Note – No French translation is necessary.
I am looking forward to your reply / submission
Thanks - Floyd
