We are working on a proof of concept to show we can filter TCP packets on Android without rooting the phone. Some apps on Google Play Store that use this functionality are Mobilwol: No root firewall" and "NoRoot Firewall" by GreyShirt (while we are not building a firewall but they work by the same principle) The project is not for a full app but just a module to filter TCP packets and an example showing it’s possible to filter packets (eg: changing the content of something transfered to or from the phone).
