Im a Windows 8.1 / Windoes phone developer. I am using the DirectX/Xaml tools for building games, beacuse I get the best performance and a relatively shorter build time. I have 1 game in the win store, (both win store and win phone store) and i am currently planning a second game. All the apps I build for the win store are universal, so they work on all windows devices.
