Individual Research Report on Human Resource Practices
You are an HR consultant for an Events Management Team who organise major events throughout Europe. You are required to analyse the human resources of an events organisation and assess the staffing issues specific to the events [login to view URL] are required to produce a report on two areas in relation to HRM as follows:
1. Training & development.
2. Recruitment & selection.
• Your report should be based upon your research of an EXHIBITION event.
On the basis of your research, you are required to produce a 2000 word report in TWO PARTS as follows:
PART 1 - 1500 words
Training & Development.
Identify how your chosen event organisation uses training and development. Explain which types of training & development methods are used within your chosen event and then analyse the effectiveness and limitations of those training and development methods used that you have discussed.
You must provide appropriate recommendations to the CEO of your chosen event organisation as to how those training & development practices could be improved, and state howyour chosenevent organisation could benefit through considering alternative methods of training & development. Your answer should use appropriate HRM theories and models to support your discussion.
Recruitment & Selection
Identify how your chosen event organisation recruit and select the workforce. Explain which types of recruitment & selection methods are used within your chosen event and then analyse the effectiveness and limitations of those recruitment & selection methods used that you have discussed.
You must provide appropriate recommendations to the CEO of your chosen event organisation as to how their recruitment & selection practices could be improved, and state how your chosen event organisation could benefit through considering alternative methods of recruitment & selection. Your answer should use appropriate HRM theories and models to support your discussion.
PART 2 - 500 words
Self-Reflective Journal.
Provide an appropriate self-reflective logto describe and critically analyse your own ideologies ofeffective human resource management practices. Explain how you feltduring this process of formulating this report as an HR consultant and analyse what went well and what could have been improved and how. Identify your potential strengths as an HR consultant in the events sector.
Coursework Guidance
Your report should be based upon detailed research of your chosen major event, chosen from the eventslisted above. You must reference where your sources of information came from, e.g. the company’s website, staff handbook etc. Furthermore, your arguments may be supported with examples from other major events, using academic quotes, models and any other relevant information.
Students should produce a 1500 word report from an HR perspective that includes the following:
Part 1: Cover Page,
Contents page,
Introduction,
The 2HR methods as illustrated above – Training & Development,Recruitment & Selection,
Conclusion
& appropriate recommendations.
You should critically evaluate each method, it is not sufficient to simply describe the processes without your own analysis.
Part 2:
Students should provide a 500 word self-reflective journal to evaluate your experience as a HR consultant by describing your how you felt about the process of producing this report; including any skills or strengths you demonstrated e.g. organisation, time management, problem solving, communication, multi-tasking, decision making, technology appreciation. Analyse what went well and what could have been improved and how.
