Problem Scenario 24/7 VIDEO is a video library. The store was founded by a group of young entrepreneurs and has been in operation for last two years. Unfortunately, the library is fighting for its survival because of insufficient members and low rental rates. From a business point of view, one thing the library must be concerned with is increasing members, which will help them in revenue growth. Currently they are managing their library system offline using Microsoft Access Database and payment is not integrated with the system making the life of the members and staff difficult. At present, their business is mainly focused on loaning videos over the till, however the store is seriously considering of having an online portal where users can watch videos online. Their website also needs to have the facility of online registration, booking and payment system. Members can book and pay online and get the items collected from the library. The company is looking for a packaged solution, where they can have system which can be used online or offline. The system must integrate finance, library record and member management with a goal of business expansion and revenue growth. The company has hired your information systems consulting firm to look into the possibility of developing a library information management system. This system will address the company’s issues with offline and online requirement. As a system analyst working for the company, you are required to take the project on board.
