thank you Tom for having shared your insight, now it is very clear to me. I think I'll go for the exact item code, even though also David's proposal fits. Thanks to everyone.

David L's DigiKey item does show a second set of tabs near the latch. However, please note that the second (inner) set of tabs serves three primary purposes: to prevent over-intrusion into a mating receptacle by striking the receptacle housing; to prevent inadvertent collection of wiring under the latch body (which would prevent disconnect); to help prevent inadvertent release of the locking tab. The primary (outer) tabs are for connector polarity and would interface with the appropriate receptacle. Original design for this DigiKey part may have had secondary tabs designed to be small, simple stops (as in the photos) rather than any later revision with large, wire-blocking tabs. As long as these secondary tabs are external to any receptacle, their size and shape are likely irrelevant. None of this argues that Juan Manuel G. is incorrect, or that he has not provided the exact part as requested and that David L. has - it is merely for information about the secondary tabs.

If the customer buy this connector, He/She will can't insert it in the PCB male receptable, because the ribs not allow it. I purpose the same connector that the customer shows in the picture, it is 455-1186-ND, please see it and you can see this difference. Is too important because the customer ask us the same connector, not other or better.

I cannot win this contest because I was not first with either solution, but I will provide relevant information to the client. I understand your concern, but please note the "extra" tabs near the latch are specifically designed to NOT interfere with the receptacle in any way - they remain outside the receptacle housing (unlike the outer tabs which are for indexing male and female housings). They are a safety upgrade from the basic design because they help prevent wire from becoming an obstruction under the latch and also help prevent accidental disconnect of the latch. While the JST (or similar) housings may be *literally* identical to the housing in the photos, the Tyco/AMP housing is *technically* the same connector family, just with an additional safety feature. This feature is most important in tight spaces that have unbound wiring; inside computer equipment this feature is desirable. Both the Tyco and JST should work - is the winner literally or technically correct?

well, thanks to everyone for the knowledgeyou shared, we have no other options than buy all the most promising ones (regardless of the ribs) and see which one is best.

Hi vruffini, I would like to contact you to chat about the connector. I'm sure that if you buy the others options (as Mohamed S. David L, Robert V) they can't enter in your board housing, because all this have a piece of plastic near to main Latch Lock that will prevent the insert. Please don't spend money in things that you don't need. I'm electronic engineer with +15 years of experience buying components and I asure you that only rigth answers are: Mine, U. D. and second option of Stefano V. All others are similar but are wrong.

Oops - I really missed these "ribs" on the TE/AMP part. Then my "Molex clone" KLS1 is back in the game :)

Hi to everyone, I think that David got it right first. I am purchasing it right now and let everyone know if it is right. To David, please place an entry, so if the connector turns out to be right, I'll be able to award you the prize.

Excuse me vruffini, but the connector that proposed David is not the same that the asked for you, it has two plastic rows beside the Latch Lock that your connector hasn't. Take care with this detail, in other proposals is the same. If you used iths, maybe don't enter in the holding that you have.
