Travel Blog Design Improvements Needed

Contest Brief

We are opening this blog design contest so we can take https://blog.rentaltrader.com/ to a higher and more professional level. Our desire is to make it into a “high-end”, refined, and visually appealing travel blog site while still ensuring that it works with the design of our main site which is RentalTrader.com. We would like to keep the current theme but want to tweak it and add special graphic design elements to make it look better. Please keep in mind that the current RentalTrader.com site SHOULD NOT BE USED as a reference since we are abandoning it. Instead, please use the attached mockups of our newly designed site since our new, yet to be released RentalTrader.com site is not quite ready.

1) Please propose possible designs that will achieve our goals: On the blog home page, we're trying to communicate to the two different audiences ("a" and "b" listed below):
a) Vacation Rental Home Owners/Vacation Rental Managers: who are looking for information to improve their vacation rental business, make more money, get higher guest reviews, and information about starting a new vacation rental business, etc.
b) Travelers: who like to read and be inspired about possible travel destinations, receive travel tips, get ideas to reduce costs, etc.

At the top of the blog homepage, we think that it may be a good idea to give each of the two audiences listed above, an opportunity to click a button or a photo (or whatever you suggest) to take them to articles and information that is relevant to their particular desires. We also want to ensure that visitors to blog.rentaltrader.com understand that to list their home for rent or to rent a home for themselves that they need to go to our main site RentalTrader.com.

2) We are ALSO looking for unique design ideas and also suggestions to enhance the appeal and usability of the site. No idea is a bad idea! Please make suggestions about how we can improve and stand out in a crowd. We've attached a PDF of some other travel blog sites and some unique features that might spur additional ideas about how to improve our design.

Overall Business Objective: Since RentalTrader.com is just starting, we really need to get vacation rental owners and managers to list their homes on the RentalTrader.com site. Without home listings, we don't have anything to show to travelers who visit the site looking for a place to rent. So, our plan is to fill the blog with hundreds of pertinent articles that will help these two audiences. If we can achieve this goal of helping vacation rental owners/managers AND travelers, we believe that our Google search engine rankings will improve and then our online travel agency site RentalTrader.com will start getting homes listed that travelers can rent.

We have an excellent developer who can add your design work to the site.

Again, please don't base any of your work on the current rentaltrader.com site since we are abandoning it. If you need further clarity or have questions, please ask.

    I am here for SEO advice, your top choices are great but have issues with putting everything on the same page.

    Vacation Rental Owner needs its own page, optimizes it for the right audience.
    Travelers: A New Page.

    and you don't need subcategory for your blog, put everything in the same ROOT.
    Domain.com/blog
    and not blog.domain.com

    Your niche is super competitive.
    You have some basic SEO mistakes and website structure.
