Contest Brief

Hi! we need a design for our entertainment area out the front of our house (in New Zealand). We will source all materials and do all the work ourselves. We specially want a pergola over the main deck, fire pit with built in seating ,paving, cosy seating areas, barbecue area, lighting, and privacy from the road for thebedroom wing. We also need garden areas, trees and planting ideas. We are in our 40's, love hunting and fishing and V8 muscle cars and beer, so not wanting anything too "pretty" or "city chic". A modern rustic vibe is perfect.

Original designs based on our house and section only! I'm receiving alot of fancy, generic designs that I could find on pinterest. I can easily search Pinterest myself, I will not award this project to a copied design

Hi, Contest holder, can you get the contest #sealed, please? It is a big plot and the ideas of defining the basic design rules are valuable. Then, one can go to the detail of solving the Fire-pit/ BBQ/ Lounge and Dining decks. I would like to ask you about the pedestrian entry to the house from the road. Do you have one or do you need one? I already saw the driveway, the garage and the house entry. Will you need any hard surfaces for extra parking, if your friends visit you? Will you need any spaces to practice sports or games or it can all be defined as "lawn". I understand that you want to do it all by yourselves and this will be taken into account for the simplicity of my design. In fact, self-construction is an issue I fully support.   We already have our parking spaces constructed. We don't need games or sports areas, or paths - just lawn. No pedestrian area, we are on a farm so all visitors arrive by car. The wind comes from north/west and is moderate

  Hi, from the road everyone can see right into the bedrooms. Fencing or plants or screens would be good to block the road. Not so high that they block our mountain view.
  And lighting (fairy lights, uprights, spotlights, mood lighting) in the entertaining area

Hi I will post house and section dimensions this afternoon. All of the designs so far have been too enclosed and square. We live on a farm so don't need walls for privacy. Screens and borders are are fine. And we'd like free form rather than square. And make use of all the grass! Not so much paving or decks
