Design a logo for tour company.

Contest Brief

I need a logo for a tour company in Florida, named Explorida. The tagline for the company is "Explore Florida Now". We offer eco tours and outdoor excursions along the nature coast. We swim with manatees, snorkel Florida’s most beautiful springs, dolphin watch, provide airboat and tours, scallop charters, guided nature walks, golf cart rentals and other outdoor excursions. We will be located in the historical district of our small town, so looking for something classy but rustic. Think about the raw elements of nature. Think nature hikes. Think mangroves. Think swamps. Think deep blue-green waters. Think mermaids, pirates. Old maps. Dark weathered wood. Corrugated tin. Think of real Florida, the opposite of Disney World.

The main element that I want incorporated into the logo is a compass rose. Maybe the compass rose can substitute the letter "O" in EXPLORIDA. Play around with the idea of adding smaller elements such as the silhouette or outline of the state of Florida and/or a set of coordinates for Florida. Maybe incorporate the tagline? Nothing too busy, as the logo should embroider well and look good on a t-shirt.

I want three variations of the logo, as follows; (1) symbol logo only (2) The word EXPLORIDA with the symbol incorporated (3) Duplicate of logo 2 with the added words adventure center.

What will ultimately win me over will be the person who desings the compass for my logo. I dont want cookie cutter. I dont want a clip art compass. I want something noone can find off a google search. Something with a circle around it for text. See exaples attached labeled coordinate1 and coordinate 2. Use these photos to create someting UNIQUE.

*****Not looking for a professional or coorporate feel. I want a small hometown, off the beaten path feel. I want this logo to be a visual representation of the business. A simple design, but one that plays on our niche and our story. ****

Florida is not all about skyscrapers and coastal beaches. The REAL FLORIDA EXPERIENCE includes natural springs, manatees, swamps, marsh lands. I have attached a few photos of the places we will see when on a tour with us. The photos represent the preferred color scheme also.

    Thank you all for your submissions so far. I would like to see less generic logos. Less palm trees and cliche "florida colors." I want to incorporate out of the box elements of Florida. Clean, but with more of a vintage look. I would like to see a more "nautical version" of a compass. Give me something with character that makes you want to visit now!
