Contest Brief

Hi there,

before I tell you what I need: please - take this seriously before you apply:

Ask yourself: am I a pro in both development and DESIGN?

Most freelancers I have worked with so far are okay when it comes to development but do a very bad job in terms of design.

Even if the design gets done, it's only because I have to do lots of hand-holding, explaining every little detail, watching over them like a father, and giving piece by piece instructions.

This is not what I'm looking for.

What I'm looking for who fulfills all of the following requirements:

- Native speaker of English, or bi-lingual level / or native speaker of German or bi-lingual (actually, speaking German is a huge plus)
- Very good at web design (not only development, actual design - I'm not talking about templates...I'm talking about custom design)
- Does not need a lot of guidance... can get the job done with the right quality by himself/herself

If, after reading this, you still think you should apply, you've made it halfway ;)

The winner of this contest would be considered for the following job:

I need a modern school-website, with sophisticated custom design, 30-35 pages in total, including 10-15 videos, 50-60 pictures.

The homepage would have 6 clickable pictures for the 6 main sections of the website (see attached image and explanations below).

Each of those pictures will lead to a second level, where more options should appear in a bee honeycomb design.

There will be two more levels so that basically the homepage is level one...with the 6 clickable sections...each of those sections would lead to a second level... then each of the options there would lead to a third level and then each would lead to a fourth level.

The design must be very modern and perfect. Lots of freelancers know how to develop a site but don't have an understanding for design. They do a sloppy job. You need to do better (if you do, I will have more jobs in the future).

It must have a calendar function, click to call, click to email and that usual stuff for a school page.

Okay. so what's the job for this contest? Keep reading:

So the contest works this way: Send me your versions for the homepage (first page only) and the winner will get the money plus might get the rest of the job for another $700.

So for the homepage in this contest... what I want is the following:

In the picture attached to this you will see:

I want a fixed menu bar with the following items only as icons (and then explanation texts should appear when hovering over the icon):

Home . Phone . Mealplan . Calendar (which needs to synchronize with personal calendars) Substitutions . Downloads

Beneath that, there should be 6 pictures with the following captions (see attached picture):

Film & Foto . Newsletter . Menschen & Kontakte

Unser Schulprofil . Jahrgänge 5-7 & 8-10 . Oberstufe

You only need these two rows (on the picture there is a third row you don't need).

The 6 fields each have 3-4 pictures that change after 3-4 seconds (you can just use placeholders as pictures for now).

However, they don't change simultaneously...only the picture of one field changes...then the picture of another field changes, then the picture of another field changes... Do you understand what I mean?

Then there will be a testimonials section

Then there will be the cooperation partners section "Kooperationspartner" where you can put in placeholder logos for our partners

And finally the footer with the contact data of the school (just use placeholder text)

I will also attach the logo, the colors could be red and white.

A site that is not as modern looking as the one I want, but it's a school site that I do like is the following:

This is just to give you an idea. However, what I have in mind is more modern and has the features described above.
